Rising another for Hogan
He deserved it as he had been knocking on the door all year and had been consistent but always ran into one. He picked up for me today and I'd say the cheekpieces helped him today as he used to be free but was now a little lairy in the closing stages. He was gutsy and I wouldn’t think the handicapper can move him too much. There's a two mile race on the Friday at Galway for him next and it's good for Kevin (McConnell) and his wife Bernie who came down from Tyrone to watch him; they were in Portlaoise to see the footballers win last night and came on here today so they're on the double as well.
Galway now on the agenda for One In All In
Mill Quest scores for Elliott & Kennedy
she jumped and travelled away and stayed galloping and did it well. We haven't had her long and hopefully she can progress and can keep going through the summer.
Kennedy rides out his claim on Neverushacon
Russell & De Bromhead combine for Limerick double
it was a great ride from Davy and she jumped really well and obviously just loves that ground. We were disappointed with her last winter and even though she won on soft ground at Listowel, she regressed after that and she is by King's Theatre and she seems to love that better ground. Hopefully there's be more chases to be won with her now and you'd love to get black-type but we're a long way from that on ratings. You never know though and if she could get her ground on the day she might get it somewhere. Schmidt (runner-up) ran well but jumped a bit novicey and he needed the run for experience. I think he wants further and we'll look for a 2m4f similar contest next.
Vinnie Supreme in the Galway Plate Trial
We thoroughly enjoy this horse and the lads came in as owners four years ago and are now very good friends of mine. He wants good quick ground and he was brilliant. He needs good quick ground and he'll go to Galway now all being well. He'll run in the Plate if he gets in but if he doesn't scrape in he'll go for the Grade B handicap hurdle on the Saturday and he was second in that two years ago.
Love & Orr on the mark with Presentingprincess
In fairness Heather Kiernan had her for point-to-pointing and she had the ground work done on her. She took a while to get into the training regime and we said we'd take a punt by coming back for a 2m 4f bumper and it worked out well. The next step will be a little mares' maiden hurdle and then think about going handicapping.
