Tom Midgley, the rider of Lock Down Luke (GB), placed third, had appeared to use his whip contrary to the Conditions of the race.
After being interviewed in the presence of the BHA Jockey Coach and shown recordings of the incident, Midgley was suspended for 7 days for improper riding, on dates to be notified to him by the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
Following the race, Stuart Coltherd reported that Jack Yeats (IRE), which finished last of six runners, was unsuited by the going which was officially described as Soft (Heavy in Places), and would prefer a sounder surface.
