A typically competitive handicap with plenty holding chances on form.

Settigano is a half-brother to Prix Morny winner Orpen, and while he does not possess his brother's ability, is a smart horse who has his own style of running. According to winning trainer Mick Fitzgerald, "Settigano needs to be coaxed into his races and you can't get too aggressive on him. Danny (Grant) gave him a super ride and, depending on how he comes out of today's race, may come back for a Listed race here next week." The winner is now twice a course and distance winner

Belle Noverre was bidding to complete a hat-trick of handicap wins and ran another cracker. She could prove competitve in similar races and should defy a further rise for this.

Essexford and Tis Mighty are both consistent and deserve a win while Bay Boy was hampered in the straight but did stay on without ever threatening.
