M.C. Hussey, rider of Diesel Ten, trained by Patrick O.Brady, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount met with accidental interference on leaving the stalls which resulted with him being unseated. T.P. Madden, rider of Beacon Lodge, trained by T. Stack, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount veered sharply right on leaving stalls. The Stewards received a report from Mr Ion Hamilton, Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that B.P. Dawson, rider of Canary Row, weighed in at 1.8 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he had drank some water at the start and this may have accounted for the extra weight on weighing- in. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that B.P. Dawson was in breach of Rule 231 and they therefore suspended him for one race day.
