Permission was given for The Great Wall (USA) to go early to post.
The Veterinary Officer reported that SHEPHERD’S PURSE, trained by David Loughnane, had been vaccinated for equine influenza within 7 days of the race and therefore could not run.
After interviewing the representative, Loughnane was fined £290.
Canimar (GB), placed sixth, lost a cheek piece shortly after the start.
The cheek piece was inspected and as it was found to be in a serviceable condition, no further action was taken.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching the first bend when Inexes (GB), placed second, ridden by Jason Hart, interfered with Westfield Wonder (GB), placed seventh, ridden by Robbie Walsh.
Hart was cautioned for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to drift left towards the rail when insufficiently clear of Westfield Wonder (GB), causing Walsh to take a slight check.
Gavin Ashton, the rider of Canimar (GB), placed sixth, was also present in the enquiry, but it was found he was not involved in the interference.
Being 7lb claimers, Walsh declined the offer of accompaniment and Ashton was accompanied in the enquiry by a senior rider.
Following the race, Alistair Rawlinson reported that The Great Wall (USA), placed fourth, was never travelling.
