Okotoks lands a punt in Cork
He was entitled to do that and unfortunately the ground was a bit quick for him the last day and I shouldn't have run him. His jumping is a bit sketchy - he has a good leap but is still novicey.
Rath delighted with Tim's Grade Three win
It was his first time over three miles on soft ground but I thought he'd get any distance. I was never going to jock off JJ [Slevin, unable to use his 7lbs claim in the race] and he gave him a great ride. Another jockey might have come back after riding him and said 'I should have made more use of him' but JJ knows him so well. He also had a ride for (Nigel) Twiston-Davies today but chose to come over here for him. He seems to be improving all the time but will have a break now. He's only five and will spend a bit more time over hurdles before going chasing. At the start he couldn't finish a point-to-point but has improved every day we run and is a tough horse who keeps pulling it out.
Double for Cooper as Gigginstown win again
he's a next year horse and is still a big baby. He jumped well and had a nice point to point run. He's wasn't really a bumper horse but goes on any ground.
Treble for Cooper on Lord Scoundrel
CeannComhairle,Cowen &co win CorkNational
it gives us great pleasure and it is so special to win the Cork National. The syndicate (Grand Alliance Racing Club) all drink in the Members Bar (of the Dail) and there are a few members of Fine Gael, Fianna Fail and one from the P.D.s!. Tulsa Jack fell on his first two races over fences but has been a fantastic servant and is still only six years of age. It is an incredible compliment to his great trainer that he this is our 26th winner from only four horses and his array of jockeys keeps getting better. It gives us great pleasure to do something for the bloodstock industry and to help promote the sport.
Perfect Woman prevails in Cork
She is from the old Second Schedule and Merry People breed and has only every run two or three bad races in a few years.
Screaming Rose now two from two
I delayed my trip to Australia (for Tuesday's Melbourne Cup) to ride her and I thought she'd be hard to beat.
