Rhiain Ingram, the rider of KIRA’S STAR, unplaced, had appeared to stop riding for some distance approaching ½ furlong out, before recommencing and riding out to the winning post, being beaten by ¾ length for fourth place.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the filly failed to reveal any abnormalities.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Ingram was suspended for 2 days for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing on a horse that could have finished fourth.
Following the race, Richenda Ford reported that Kira's Star (GB), unplaced, was unsuited by the going, which was officially described as Firm on this occasion, and would prefer an easier surface.
