J.J. Burke, rider of Misty Weather, trained by Eoin Griffin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount pulled up lame. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined The Living Beauty, trained by C.Roche, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. The Stewards requested a report from W.J.Austin, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Emcon, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that this mare's last run was her first after a break. Today the ease in the going and the longer trip, combined with improving for the run last time may have brought about an improvement. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the contents of the report.
An extended handicap hurdle for four yrs old and upwards mares only that are EBF eligible (116 = 11st 10lb) Weights - Top weight in the original handicap; shall not be less than 11st 10lb Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each hurdle race won. Any horse rated above 116 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 11st 10lb. Subsequently, the excess over 116 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any four year old rated above 116 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
