Coco beats Love in Blandford thriller
my office is the tractor and I was sitting looking at the phone on Friday morning scratching my head when I saw Love declared. I didn't expect to see her and there might have been an expletive!. When I make a plan I tend to stick to it and wasn't going to waver although Barry Irwin (of owner Team Valor) was quite cross with me when he saw Love declared. I got a lecture about what was I at, what was I thinking, but I told him I thought she was good enough.
'Fast Eddie' wins the Flying Five
I was asked if Chris (Hayes) could have been jocked off for the ride the last day but they put rubbers on pencils because everyone makes mistakes! . He was good on her and today was the day that matters.
Niarchos blue-blood wins the Moyglare
how lucky am I to have three fillies out of the one mare to have won Group 1s. She’s a lovely, lovely filly and is completely different to Alpha Centauri, who was a big grey filly. This filly was not as big but she has done a lot of growing. She has a lovely temperament and is not as feisty as Alpha. Alpine Star looked completely different again. She was long and low, not very big. she (Discoveries) was green the first time she ran and then won her maiden. We’d hoped she’d win the Alpha Centauri Debutante but the ground came up soft that day.
UK raiders add National Stakes to weekend haul
this is a route we’ve done with Pinatubo and Quorto and it was always our plan after the Superlative to come here. This is a great race and an indicator to the Dewhurst. It’s a Group 1 and a great race to be involved in, and more importantly a great weekend to be involved in. He’s an interesting horse to be around, like a lot of the good ones, when you get to learn their characteristics. We changed some equipment on him and put a cross noseband on to make him concentrate as he was free and messing around. I’d say we will go straight for the Dewhurst. I don’t know if he’s quite got the head for a Breeders Cup yet and we might find something else for that. it’s been a great summer with those middle distance horses and the older horses as well. Full credit to all the team at home for putting a lot of hard work in and as always His Highness Sheikh Mohammed who is so great to this sport.

Well-backed 'breezer' bags Sales race
the only concern I had coming here was the trip. He’s a seven furlongs or a mile horse but he has a bit of class and I think he could be very good. It was a messy race the first day, we went slow and sprinted and it was soft ground. He’s improved plenty from it and the nicer ground today helped him. He could be a smashing three-year-old.
