J.W. Kennedy, rider of Imperial Class, trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount jinked from the faller at the third last and his saddle slipped
The Raceday Stewards enquired into the circumstances whereby Ballerina Boxer, trained by John. C. McConnell and ridden by B. W. Harvey, had to be resaddled due the wrong number cloth being fitted. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned and the IHRB Clerk of the Scales Mr. P. L. Malone. John C McConnell stated that he thought he had showed the correct number cloth to the Clerk of the Scales but did notice the error upon saddling his charge and immediately moved to rectify the situation. Mr. P. L. Malone stated that he could not be sure if he had seen the correct number when weighing out B. W. Harvey. Having considered all the evidence, the Raceday Stewards took no further action other than to remind both John C. McConnell and Mr. P. L. Malone of their responsibilities in this regard
