Cooper doubles up on Monotype
It's tackier ground and slower ground than Punchestown. At Punchestown he just couldn't go the pace. He took off a bit then at the third last when he was sort of nowhere, and Bryan was hard on him then to finish ninth. We were a bit worried then because it was only ten days ago, but he was very gutsy there today. He was beaten nearly at the start, he couldn't go the pace and they went quick enough. He just out battled him (Great Khan) then to the line. If he hadn't of jumped the last he would have been beaten. Bryan was brilliant on him. He is a top class jockey, he is a multiple Grade 1 winning jockey, and we'll use him when we get him. He is definitely a winter ground horse and I don't want to be going around during the summer guessing about ground. He has a hard enough season, and he might make a nice staying chaser for next season.
Mess scores on handicap debut
It was worth the wait. He has always been a nice horse. He has been very big and backward, a big tall lean horse. Thanks to Paddy McCormack who owns him, he has given me all the time in the world with him. I just thought the ground might be a bit tacky for him, but he has done it well now and he’ll be a nice horse for the future. He will improve a hell of a lot. He will stay further. He was a bit green in front, but he is a real nice horse for the future. We were stopping and starting with him the whole way through his career. We probably shouldn’t have started with him as early as we did. He always showed us a nice bit, he has a hell of a page and a nice pedigree. He will be a nice chaser in time. It's lovely to come home and have a winner here.
Treble for Cooper & double for Nolan with Park
I was disappointed with her in Fairyhouse. I thought off her mark that she might run into a place. She never travelled and didn't jump well, she was on her head the whole way. I couldn't find anything wrong with her and we thought it might have been the end of a long season. It wasn't a long season today anyway! . Bryan was very good on her. He kept her out nice and wide. I thought when they went so slow that if a few passed her she might chuck it in a bit. He was able to hold his position, he gave her a kick coming down the hill and was able to stretch it. She saw it out well to the line. I'm hoping she'll be far better over a fence. She won a point-to-point easily. Then we decided to keep her rather than go to the sales. I think she'll be better over a fence. I'd say we will leave her off now. I don't want to be going around guessing about ground. You can't keep them going the whole time, and I'd like to be bringing in a few with a chance for next season.
Deserved win for Fintara as she beats the boys
Carr back in winners enclosure with Fergie
I thought I mightn't make it in time. There was a crash on the motorway, and I thought if the traffic in Enniscorthy was bad that I wouldn't get here. I only made it by minutes!. He ran okay in the banks race at Punchestown last week. We were hoping he'd have a chance off a light weight on that ground. We'll find something else for him in the next couple of weeks.
Trail takes bumper to give Nolan treble
Patrick gave her a super ride. He was just waiting for a gap to come and he always thought she would be able to go through it. I was worried about the ground, I'd say she will appreciate nicer ground and she jumps well. We'll probably look for a little summer campaign for her. When it works out like today it's grand. Hopefully we'll be able to keep our heads above water.
