Won In The Dark ran a cracker when third in the Triumph Hurdle and scooted away with this, winning impressively. The gelding is handy-sized, has shown a tendancy to swish his tail in the closing stages of races but, apart from one swish after the final flight, was on his best behaviour and won gamely. Accoring to winning trainer Sabrina Harty "Won In The Dark has never been as well and he was very fresh coming here. He loves this time of year and goes well on summer ground." Long term, the gelding could develop into a Champion Hurdle candidate but more immediately, he is sure to win from his Flat mark of 64.

Indian Spring, surprisingly, is still a maiden over hurdles, but will make a smashing novice next season. The gelding lacks a gear to match the top novices but should collect his share of novice events, with the benefit of five hurdle runs behind him.

Paco Jack has had a busy season but is still fresh. He will win his share of events over the summer, either over hurdles or on the Flat.

Franchoek has been busy himself all season and this was possibly one race too many for the otherwise consistent gelding. Franchoek beat Won In The Dark at Cheltenham last November but this was a long way short of Francoek's best form.

Quevega weakened from two out and disappointed while Personal Column and Beau Michael both lost ground at the fourth last flight and were beaten before the straight.
