An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line involving the winner, Light Infantry (FR), ridden by Jamie Spencer; Tacarib Bay (GB), placed third, ridden by Thore Hammer Hansen and Cresta (FR), placed second, ridden by Tom Marquand.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Light Infantry (FR)’s placing as that colt had come from behind Tacarib Bay (GB) and Cresta (FR) and always appeared to be holding those two runners on the run to the line.
In addition, Light Infantry (FR) was going away at the finish, with the distance between the winner and second 1½ lengths and second and third ½ length.
Spencer was suspended for 4 days for careless riding as he had failed to take sufficient steps to prevent Light Infantry (FR) from shifting sharply right-handed, causing Tacarib Bay (GB) to be carried onto Cresta (FR).
