The winner, The Bay Birch (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Sandown Park on 9 March 2019 where the mare finished seventh of the nine finishers, beaten by 28¾ lengths.
The explanation of Matt Sheppard’s representative that The Bay Birch (IRE) had benefitted from this being a mares’ only race which was a less competitive contest, was noted.
The mare was routine tested.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that the winner, The Bay Birch (IRE), lost its left hind shoe.
