Permission was given for EVA’S EYES to wear a red hood to post and for Freak Encounter (IRE) to go early to post.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 2 furlongs out, involving Ignition (IRE), placed third, ridden by Rob Hornby, EVA’S EYES, unplaced, ridden by Ryan Kavanagh and No Gain (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Charles Bishop.
The interference was found to be accidental as Hornby attempted to improve his position into a tight gap between No Gain (GB) and EVA’S EYES, at the same time as they both edged marginally off their intended lines, causing Hornby to become short of room and to have to stop riding for a period of time as a result.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race between the second and third placed horses, after interference on the run to the line, when No Release (GB), placed second, ridden by Rossa Ryan, interfered with the winner Perfect Parole (GB), ridden by Sean Levey, No Gain (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Charles Bishop and Ignition (IRE), placed third, ridden by Rob Hornby.
The Stewards ordered the placings to remain unaltered as Ignition (IRE) was moved slightly off its intended line as a result of knock on interference to its inside with its rider stating that the gelding lost no momentum, an opinion that was played out by the films, to be beaten a head at the line.
The interference was found to be accidental as Ryan had attempted to correct his mount from hanging left-handed, which resulted in No Release (GB) over-correcting and shifting right, at a time that Perfect Parole (GB) was improving quickly on its outside, moving the filly off its line which in turn intimidated No Gain (GB) right-handed and further moved Ignition (IRE) of its intended line on the outside.
Following the race, Tyler Heard reported that BIRD ABOUT TIME, unplaced, lost its action; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination revealed the filly to be lame on its left-fore.
