An enquiry was held to consider interference leaving the back straight on the final circuit when American Craftsman (IRE), placed eighth, ridden by Finley Marsh, interfered with Mizen Master (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by Martin Harley.
Marsh was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to drift left-handed on the bend when insufficiently clear causing Harley to take a significant check Approximately 1 furlong out, Gavlar (GB), placed second, lugged left-handed at the same time as Yasir (USA), placed fourth, edged right-handed, causing Hugoigo (GB), placed seventh, to be steadied when tightened for room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Gavlar (GB) or Yasir (USA).
The winner Uncle Bernie (IRE) appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Wolverhampton on 19 September 2020 where the gelding finished eighth of ten runners, beaten by 21 lengths.
It was noted that Sarah Hollinshead could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form.
Uncle Bernie (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, Martin Harley reported that Mizen Master (IRE), placed fifth, suffered interference approximately 3½ furlongs out.
Brett Doyle reported that Scrafton (GB), unplaced, stopped quickly; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
