Permission was given for Sleeping Lion (USA), Mancini (GB) and Margaret Dumont (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
An enquiry was held into the circumstances surrounding why a Groundsman was holding the upright of the railing approximately 1 ½ furlongs out in Race 3.
The Clerk of Course and the Head Groundsman were interviewed.
They explained that the point at which the upright was being held is where the Stalls were placed for the start of the 2-mile race and after successfully removing the stalls, it was discovered that a piece of the rail was broken and could not be completely reassembled.
They added that the Groundsman was confident that it would hold but held the upright in case it failed.
The Stewards accepted their explanation.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching 2 furlongs out when Rodrigo Diaz (GB), placed second, ridden by Jamie Spencer, interfered with Global Heat (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Hector Crouch.
Spencer was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he maneuvered right when insufficiently clear causing Crouch to become unbalanced and have to take a check off heels.
Following the race, Oisin Murphy reported that Withhold (GB), placed third, was denied a clear run.
Saeed bin Suroor’s representative reported that Global Heat (IRE), unplaced, was unsuited by the going, which was officially described as Good to Firm on this occasion and would prefer a slower surface.
Roger Varian’s representative reported that Zeeband (IRE), unplaced, was unsuited by the going, which was officially described as Good to Firm on this occasion and would prefer a slower surface.
