The Distant Lady (IRE), trained by Graeme McPherson, and Taste The Fear (IRE), trained by Dr Richard Newland, were late into the Parade Ring due to their respective riders being delayed weighing out after riding in the previous race which had a false start.
Sam Twiston-Davies, the rider of the winner, Taste The Fear (IRE), was suspended for 2 days for using his whip in the incorrect place after the final hurdle.
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider a complaint lodged by Graeme McPherson, the trainer of The Distant Lady (IRE), regarding an altercation between a member of his staff and an Equine Welfare & Integrity Officer at the racecourse stables following the running of Race 5.
They interviewed the trainer, an Equine Welfare & Integrity Officer and the Veterinary Officer.
Having considered their evidence, the Stewards ordered a report to be forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority for further consideration.
The performance of The Distant Lady (IRE), which finished sixth of six runners, was considered.
Graeme McPherson's explanation that the mare was outpaced throughout on this occasion was noted.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of The Distant Lady (IRE) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
