Permission was given for Bob Ford (IRE) to go early to post.
Sean Bowen, the rider of Reckless Behavior (IRE), was unseated at the start.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no other horse or rider was involved and was caused by the gelding whipping around as the tapes went up.
Having reviewed the start, the Stewards were satisfied that Reckless Behavior (IRE) had unseated Bowen after the race had been effected and was therefore deemed to be a runner.
The Starter reported that Reckless Behavior (IRE), had whipped around and unseated the rider.
Caroline Bailey’s representative was interviewed and shown recordings of the start.
Bailey’s representative was informed that any future similar behaviour from the gelding may result in the horse being reported to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
The winner, COUGAR’S GOLD (IRE), appeared to show an improvement in form compared with its previous run at Fontwell on 24 February 2019, where the gelding finished fourth of eight, beaten 48 lengths.
Bowen explained that some of his horses seemed to have been off colour recently and the yard appeared to be coming back into form.
COUGAR’S GOLD (IRE) was routine tested.
Following this race, an enquiry was held to determine how Reckless Behavior (IRE), trained by Caroline Bailey, which unseated its rider as the start was effected, was able to leave the confines of the racecourse before being caught a short distance away from the racecourse.
The Clerk of the Course was interviewed and stated that the gelding had gone through the outside running rail before trotting loose out of an unsupervised main exit.
Her comments were noted and a report was forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority for further consideration.
