The Stewards received a report from Hugh Hynes, Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, that J.B. Kane, rider, presented himself at scales at 6lbs overweight for his ride on Crack On Corrie, trained by W.J. Austin. J.B. Kane stated that he was called for a dope test last evening at Dundalk races and had to drink a large quantity of water to provide a sample as he was dehydrated. He felt that he would have ridden at the declared 2lbs overweight today except for having to rehydrate last evening. Having considered the report, the Stewards were of the opinion that J.B. Kane had breached the provisions of Rules 195 and 198 and having taken his good previous record into consideration fined him ?150. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Side Saddle, trained by Ms. Sandra Hughes, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
