Sir Mark Todd was cautioned as Marsden Cross (IRE) had arrived in the Parade Ring with blinkers that had not been declared, which were then removed.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching the final furlong involving the winner, Colonial Love (GB), ridden by Neil Callan, Swallowdale (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Robert Havlin, Iconique (GB), placed sixth, ridden by Louis Steward, and Kinderfrau (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Cieren Fallon.
The interference was found to be accidental as Colonial Love (GB) had shifted quickly left-handed before being corrected, causing Swallowdale (GB) to shy away quickly and make contact with Iconique (GB) which in turn caused Kinderfrau (GB) to be crowded against the rail.
Following the race, Charles Bishop reported that Marsden Cross (IRE), placed eighth, hung badly both ways and was virtually un-steerable.
