Permission was given for Talamanca (GB) to wear a red hood to the start and for Durley Girl (GB) to go early to the start wearing a red hood.
Talamanca (GB) ran yesterday, 7 August 2022, at Leicester, finishing fifth of five.
Having been examined by the Veterinary Officer, the gelding was deemed fit to race.
Leaving the stalls, Madam Pickle (GB), unplaced, jumped right-handed giving a bump to Nifaliophobia (IRE), placed second, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Approximately 4 furlongs out, the winner, Talamanca (GB) edged marginally left-handed causing the rider of Madam Pickle (GB), unplaced, to take a check left-handed off heels which in turn caused the rider of DESTINY’S SPIRIT, placed fourth, to take a check left-handed off heels, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and it had not improved the placing of Talamanca (GB).
Approaching 2 furlongs out, Nifaliophobia (IRE), placed second, drifted slightly right-handed resulting in Candy Rain (IRE), placed fifth, being denied a clear run, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and it had not improved the placing of Nifaliophobia (IRE).
The winner, Talamanca (GB) appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Leicester on 7 August 2022 where the gelding finished fifth, beaten 4¼ lengths.
Richard Spencer’s explanation that the gelding had benefited in a drop back in trip to 6 furlongs, from 7 furlong, and had also benefited from the application of a red hood in the preliminaries, having previously ran too free to post.
Talamanca (GB) was routine tested.
Following the race, Callum Hutchinson reported that Poppy Field (IRE), placed sixth, hung left-handed.
