Prior to this race, the representative of Maurice Barnes was asked to explain the reason why they were running Flying Jack (GB) here at Kelso on going described as Good to Soft, having reported that the gelding would prefer quicker ground following its run at Musselburgh on 10 March 2019 on ground of the same official description.
The trainer’s representative explained that in her opinion the ground at Musselburgh was riding tacky and that the gelding would be better suited by Kelso.
Her explanation was noted.
The winner Mrs Vonn (IRE) appeared to show an improvement in form, compared with its previous run at Musselburgh on 10 March 2019 where the mare was pulled up.
Stuart Coltherd explained that the mare may have been suited by the drop back in trip to 2 miles 5 furlongs.
