Darragh Keenan, the rider of Ivahunch (GB), was slow to remove the blindfold.
Keenan explained that he lost his grip on the blindfold at the first attempt and therefore a second attempt was required to remove it successfully, resulting in the gelding being slowly away.
His explanation was noted.
An enquiry was held to consider interference entering the first bend involving Temur Khan (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Mollie Phillips, Lunar Shadow (GB), placed second, ridden by Hollie Doyle, Seagulls Nest (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Alistair Rawlinson and Go Fox (GB), unplaced, ridden by Aiden Brookes.
As a 7lb claiming apprentice, Brookes was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.
Brookes was suspended for 8 days for careless riding as he had permitted his mount to drift left- handed towards the rail when insufficiently clear of Seagulls Nest (GB), causing Rawlinson to take a significant check and in turn, badly hamper Lunar Shadow (GB) causing Doyle to severely check her mount, which in turn caused Temur Khan (GB) to be crowded for room between runners and lose its early position.
Approximately 2½ furlongs out, Go Fox (GB), unplaced, which was hanging badly left-handed, had to be moved right-handed in order to avoid the heels of a rapidly weakening Ivahunch (GB), unplaced, hampering Lunar Shadow (GB), placed second, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, Darragh Keenan reported that Ivahunch (GB), unplaced, ran too freely.
