Big targets for Rome
I said early on that he was one of the best I've trained,. He's in the National Stakes and will go there. He's a proper horse and is still a bit weak. He's given us a great feel since the day he was broke. He's back from a break today and maybe needed the run a bit but Danny said he won easily.
Dove swoops late to score
She had a few runs early on and then had a wind op so we gave her a break,. We've been happy with her since. Shane said she wasn't in love with the heavy ground. We'll keep her to similar handicaps and a mile might suit her better. Hopefully she can progress further. She's still green.
Solo run reaps rewards for Hopkins
I ran one in the first which I liked. He was drawn two and got stuck on the ground on the inside. It's bottomless,. I said to Gary we might look very stupid with what I'm asking u to do. He told me what the other jockeys intended and I said I didn't care he had to come wide. We had nothing to lose. If he had raced on the inside he wouldn't have won. He hates the ground. Historically the best ground here when it's soft is out wide. It's as bad as I've seen all summer. Very tacky. I was happy he was thereabouts but where I watch it the angle is horrendous. That win was a bonus and we'll step him up to stakes company now.
Reef leaves it late
It's a lucky track for him and I think he's improving,. Seamie was afraid of the draw as he was on the worst of the ground but he tracked across. We'll see what the handicapper does and keep him to his grade. We stayed away from Galway as we want to take our time with him. He's such a big horse.
Beau bounces back
Barry (Geraghty) pulled him up the other day in Galway as he never travelled on the ground. We couldn't find anything wrong with him,. He always has a bit of mucus and never scopes clean. He grubbed up after and I have to thank Barry as he didn't give him a hard race. He was sweet after the race so we decided to run here. He was dropping in grade. He's in again at Sligo on Wednesday and Leopardstown on Thursday and could run at either one if he's ok. He stays well and I told Keith to stretch them across the top. He gave him a super ride.
Maddens strike with Clancy
That's great. He lost his way a bit last year but we could never find anything wrong,. Thank god he's going the right way now. He had a chance after a nice run at Limerick. He's handling the ground better this year than he did last year. He'll be kept going and could go chasing.
