The Clerk of the Scales explained that he had been informed by the Clerk of the Scales at Chepstow that da Silva had been unable to ride due to being signed off by the Racecourse Medical Officer at Chepstow.
The matter was forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority for further consideration.

De Best-Turner explained that the gelding is very lazy at home and having been slowly away Chicago Socks (GB) had no company to race with therefore never travelled.
The Veterinary Officer added that Chicago Socks (GB) was assessed both before and after racing and felt that the gelding was fit to race and showed no abnormalities post-race.
Following the race, Finley Marsh reported that Chicago Socks (GB), unplaced, was very slowly away, losing all chance of being competitive and subsequently never travelling.
Cieren Fallon reported that Waterfall (GB), unplaced, jumped awkwardly from the stalls.
