The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Compass Hill (USA), ridden by S. Foley, placed third, Stoked, ridden by R.P. Cleary, placed second and Tom Dooley, ridden by S.P. Davis, placed unplaced, where it appeared that interference may have occured causing Stoked to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that any interference was accidental in nature and took no further action. S. Foley, rider of Compass Hill (USA) trained by John Joseph Murphy, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran around a bit. W.J. Lee, rider of Fair Game trained by E. J. O'Grady, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was left at the stalls and was slowly away. R.P. Cleary, rider of Stoked trained by Luke Comer, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount met with interference and was stopped up the straight. The Stewards interviewed R.P. Cleary, rider of Stoked, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that R.P. Cleary was in breach of regulation 10.3 (a) in that he used his whip in the forehand position in front of the saddle and regulation 10.3 (f) in that he used his whip with excessive frequency. Having considered R.P. Cleary's previous record in this regard, the Stewards suspended R.P. Cleary for 1 raceday. The Stewards enquired into the apparent improvement in form of Youceeyouceecee, trained by Miss Susan A Finn, placed, first compared with its recent form. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned who stated that the horse is a heavy shouldery horse who did not get down the hill in Galway but improved going up the hill. In Tipperary he found the ground to be too fast. In her opinion the horse prefers flat, level tracks with soft to heavy underfoot conditions. Evidence was also heard from the Turf Club Flat Handicapper Mr. Garry O' Gorman, who stated that following four bad runs in 2017, the horse had been dropped 11 lbs and today's run was a considerable improvment on all of this years runs.
