The Stewards enquired into possible interference from the final fence involving Ball D'Arc (FR), ridden by B.J. Cooper, placed third, Dysios, ridden by D.F. O'Regan, placed second and Lake Takapuna, ridden by D.J. Mullins, placed first. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that any interference was accidental, they made no alteration to the judge's placings and took no further action. C.D. Maxwell, rider of Westerners Son trained by Dermot Anthony McLoughlin, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lost his action at the third last fence and was pulled up.
