Shabaaby (GB), trained by Ewan Whillans had failed to enter the Parade Ring.
After being interviewed, Whillans’ explanation that they had been late due to a combination of P J McDonald having ridden in the previous race and the yard having also had a runner in that contest.
His explanation was accepted.
Rebel Redemption (GB), drawn 1, anticipated the start, accelerated the gate and was slowly away as a result.
Shortly after leaving the stalls, the winner, Bossy Parker (IRE), lugged left-handed slightly crowding Storm Asset (GB), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Bossy Parker (IRE).
P J McDonald, the rider of Shabaaby (GB) was unseated at the end of the backstraight.
Ryan Sexton, the rider of Northbound (IRE) was interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, but McDonald was unable to be interviewed owing to his injuries.
As a result of this, the enquiry was adjourned until Ludlow on the 29 February.
Following the race, William Cox reported that American Rose (GB), placed second, ran too freely, Elisha Whittington reported that Rebel Redemption (GB), unplaced, was never travelling and Dougie Costello reported that Storm Asset (GB), unplaced, ran too freely.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Sea The Buckthorn (GB), unplaced, bled from the nose.
