An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference in the final ? furlong when the winner, Bombero (IRE) ridden by Barry McHugh, interfered with Matewan (IRE), placed second, ridden by Paul Hanagan.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved the placing of Bombero (IRE) and was found to be accidental as Bombero (IRE) had edged very slightly right giving Matewan (IRE), placed second, a slight bump.
The Stewards were further satisfied that the ground and the momentum lost by Matewan (IRE) was less than the official distance of a short head.
