Permission was given for Lockdown (GB) to wear a hood in the Parade Ring only and for SMEATON’S LIGHT (IRE) to go early to post.
The winner, Rhythm (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Windsor on 26 April 2021, where the filly finished ninth of twelve, beaten by 8½ lengths.
The representative of Richard Hannon could offer no explanation for Rhythm (IRE)’s improved form on this occasion.
The filly was routine tested.
The performance of Royal Musketeer (GB), which started second-favourite and finished unplaced, was considered.
The explanation from the representative of Charles Hills that the colt was never travelling on this occasion, was noted.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Royal Musketeer (GB) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, Andrea Atzeni reported that Good Listener (IRE), which finished last of the eleven runners, beaten by 9¾ lengths hung left-handed throughout and Jason Watson reported that Ivasecret (IRE), unplaced, hung right-handed under pressure.
