Permission was given for Forbidden Beauty (IRE) to wear a red hood in the preliminaries which was removed at the start, and for the filly to go to post early and be mounted on the track.
The winner, Tellmeyourstory (USA), appeared to show an improvement in form, compared with its previous run at Pontefract on 19 April 2021, where the filly finished fifth of seven, beaten 14 lengths.
It was noted that the Mark Johnston could offer no explanation for the filly’s improved form.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching 1½ furlongs out when Beechwood Emily (GB), placed eighth, ridden by Callum Rodriguez, interfered with The Sedberghian (IRE), placed sixth, ridden by Jason Hart, and Strangerontheshore (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Faye McManoman.
Rodriguez was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to drift left when insufficiently clear, causing Hart to take back and in turn give a bump to McManoman.
Following the race, Sam James reported that Forbidden Beauty (IRE), placed seventh, ran flat.
Jason Hart reported that The Sedberghian (IRE), placed sixth, ran too free.
Faye McManoman reported that Strangerontheshore (GB), placed fourth, was denied a clear run 2 furlongs out.
Jane Elliott reported that Bazzy (GB), unplaced, hung left throughout.
