The Veterinary Officer reported that upon inspection, Fantom Force (IRE) was grey and not brown as published in the racecard.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line when the winner, Rich Belief (GB), ridden by Robert Winston, interfered with Road Rage (IRE), placed second, ridden by Connor Beasley.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Rich Belief (GB)’s placing as the colt had intimidated Road Rage (IRE) from half a furlong out and ultimately gave the gelding a bump shortly before the line which unbalanced Road Rage (IRE) and caused the gelding to lose momentum before being beaten a neck, and revised the placings as follows: First, Road Rage (IRE), second, Rich Belief (GB).
The interference was found to be accidental as Rich Belief (GB) had hung left- handed onto Road Rage (IRE) despite the rider’s best efforts to correct the colt.
Following the race, Richard Kingscote reported that Fantom Force (IRE), which started favourite and finished fifth, was never travelling and Robert Winston reported that Rich Belief (GB), which started second favourite and finished second, hung left-handed.
