Easy Mover another winning juvenile for Ballydoyle
Tango strikes again in Fairyhouse race
Obviously with him winning it last year it was an ideal race to come back here for,. We'll probably go the same route and go back to the Curragh for the Listed race that he was fourth in last year. He was unlucky not to get the black-type last year and you'd be hoping this year with being stronger and more mature he has a chance of getting it. He's holding his form well and he's not too far off it. We tried him over seven on his first run back this season, to see would he get it, but he doesn't. He's a six furlong horse. We dropped him back to six at the Curragh, he missed the break but we were delighted with how he ran on to get fourth. If he had jumped he'd probably have been closer. He was top of the weights that day and it'd hard for him. At least in a Listed race he'll be off level weights. If he can get a length improvement we'll have the black-type.
Option back to winning ways
Class is permanent and form is temporary! It's been a while since he won but he ran a great race in the premier handicap at Cork (last month), where he finished fourth,. We ran him in the Curragh the last day where he was drawn right out on the wing and he got very upset in the stalls and he ran very freely. He was in good form and we just felt that Fairyhouse would suit him, around a bend, that he'd be able to relax and drop it, which he did. Adam gave him a good ride, he was very cool on him. The plans for the boys are that they're always over for the end of July and that's where he'll go. I'll see what the handicapper gives him and we'll try and get him into those two big handicaps in Galway. If he's going to get in off his current mark I'll leave him but if not I might have to run him again. He's a horse of a lifetime and you just don't get many horses like him.
Half-brother to Lady Kaya scores for Lavery
I'm delighted, I've always loved him,. I was surprised I was able to buy him because he's a half-brother to Lady Kaya (runner-up in the 1,000 Guineas for Lavery). I met (breeder) John O'Connor and I laughed and said to him there's not a chance I'm going to able to buy a New Bay out of Kayak. . He said he wouldn't be anyone's cup of tea but when I saw him all I could see was athlete. He was a raw horse. . I feel that's a bit of a monkey off my back getting him to win but he's actually needed all the time. He's just strengthened and strengthened mentally. . Robbie said he loved that ground. I don't know how much he'll go up, or if he'd get in, but I'm going to put him in the Jersey. If he gets in brilliant, if not it's no biggy and we'll find something else. . It might have been stupid running him at two but he learned. . I think the way he's hitting the line, now that he's strengthened up, he'll get a mile but at the moment we'll keep him at seven as he's relaxing through his races beautifully.
Bling shines for Harrington & Foley
He was game and stuck at it well. Shane thought he was going too quick six furlongs out but he just kept going,. The other horse headed him and he fought back. He's only really learning now, he's a big laidback horse. He didn't run last year and he'll improve a lot from that. He'll go handicapping now.
Natural Ruler gets up close home for Coen
Luciano holds on for 'lucky owners'
He's just special, isn't he, cause he's a slow horse and he probably wants a bit further than that. The race cut up with the divide. . In fairness the owners are very lucky fellas, they've been lucky colours. This fella won four for them last year and they had another mare who won three or four for them as well. . He jumps fences alright so we might try that again. He's up (in the ratings) a bit over hurdles but he can go over hurdles as well. . Jumping helps him a bit, it gives him a little more pace. . He's entered next week but it might be a bit quick, he'll hardly go up much for that run.
Numidia leaves them in the dust in Fairyhouse finale
We stepped him up to a mile-and-a-half. He went early enough with him and luckily enough it worked out. . That wasn't the plan but he was travelling so well that he just kicked on and took a chance. . We're in that 47-65 bracket and we'll see what the handicapper gives us. We'll stick to between a mile-and-a-quarter and a mile-and-a-half. . We'll come again in two or three weeks time. I wouldn't like to see him stepping out of that bracket. . We needed that one as it's a long time since the last winner, it was last year. . He's always been very consistent and runs his heart out every time. He'll always give you his best.
