He has a lot of ability and I'd say he would be seen to best effect six furlongs, little bit kinder ground. . I'm glad I have him in the Renaissance (Group 3 at the Curragh) at the end of September. I think that is going to be his optimum and that is one of the first things Billy said. . That (runner-up run in Navan) says it all- I mean Givemethebeatboys is a proper high-class horse. I thought we were going to win that day. Actually just hit the front and Givemethebeatboys battled back and nailed us. . That's the sort of horse I think I am dealing with and the future is bright. . I have learned that sort of less is more sometimes (headgear). The horse is genuine and we kept it simple. When you put the top guys up, you can put a lot of trust in them. Jack W Davison, trainer
M.W Hassett, rider of Heir Island, trained by T.J. O'Mara, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was slowly away
D.E. Sheehy, rider of Somptueuse, trained by M.C. Grassick, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was slowly away
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident on leaving the stalls before reaching the marker poles involving Betsen (GB), ridden by W.J. Lee, placed first, and Somptueuse, ridden by D.E. Sheehy, unplaced, where it appeared W.J. Lee moved across making contact with Somptueuse. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned
D.E. Sheehy stated that his mount slightly missed the break and it just got a little bit tight for room. W.J. Lee stated that he thought he was clear of Somptueuse and eased back out once he felt contact. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found W.J. Lee was in breach of Rule 211(a) by failing to ride in a straight line to the marker poles from his draw position. Having taken his clean record into consideration, the Raceday Stewards suspended him for one raceday.
