The Raceday Stewards received a request from W.J.Lanigan, trainer of Castle Arms Casa, to substitute the nominated rider R.J. Condon, with D.E. Mullins, due to R.J. Condon being injured. Mr. Lanigan stated that Castle Arms Casa is quite a difficult mare and D.E. Mullins was familiar with her having ridden the mare in three previous races. Mr. Lanigan said that he felt with Mr. Condon being injured and Mr. Mullins becoming available due to his mount being a non-runner, it was in the best interests of Castle Arms Casa to have a rider who was familiar with her. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards allowed the substitution on this occasion
The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Neill McCluskey, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Moneynabane, placed 1st, as compared with its recent form. Mr McCluskey reported that his charge ran previously at Warwick where he was not suited by the track. A return to Downpatrick where he has performed well in the past may have brought about any apparent improvement in form. Having considered the report the Raceday Stewards noted the explanation.
