The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr. W. Flemming, that S.W. Flanagan, rider of Nevada Rose, had presented himself to weigh out at 3lbs overweight having declared a possible 2lbs overweight at declaration time under Rule 195. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that this was the case. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards allowed the overweight on this occasion having consulted with S.Michael Millar, trainer of Nevada Rose. Furthermore, the Stewards were satisfied that S.W. Flanagan was in breach of Rule 198 and having considered his record, they issued a fine of ?150 on this occasion
The Stewards enquired into possible interference after jumping the last, involving Whoyakodding (GB), ridden by D.E. Mullins, placed third and Cantkidakidder, ridden by J.P. O'Sullivan, placed fifth, where it appeared Cantkidakidder ran short of room on the rail. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge's placings. They were however, satisfied that D.E. Mullins was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his record, they cautioned him on this occasion
R.P. Treacy, rider of The Brig trained by J.G.Coogan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled.
An extended handicap steeplechase for five yrs old and upwards rated 0-95 Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap to carry 4lb extra for each such steeplechase won.
