Permission was given for Come On Dave (IRE) and Precious Plum (GB) to go early to post.
Dylan Hogan, the rider of Red Invader (IRE) and the Starter were questioned regarding the start of the race and why the gelding refused to leave the stalls when the start was effected.
Hogan explained that in his view the horse had become fractious of its own accord just prior to the start and subsequently refused to race.
The Starter added that Red Invader (IRE) normally has a stalls rug on when loaded, however, did not on this occasion and this may have resulted in the gelding becoming fractious once loaded.
Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the start, the Stewards deemed Red Invader (IRE) to be a runner.
** Andrew Breslin, the rider of ALBAN’S DREAM, was slow to remove the blindfold.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Breslin’s explanation that the blindfold became caught on the cheekpieces and required two attempts to remove was noted.
Following the race, Duran Fentiman reported that Packington Lane (GB), placed seventh, jumped right- handed when leaving the stalls and Richard Kingscote reported that Fareeq (GB), placed third, hung right- handed.
Rossa Ryan reported that My Town Chicago (USA), which started favourite and finished eighth, was slowly away and was never travelling and Tom Marquand reported that Fairy Fast (IRE), placed second, was slowly away.
Andrew Breslin reported that ALBAN’S DREAM, unplaced, reared when leaving the stalls and moved poorly; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the filly failed to reveal any abnormalities.
