Leaving the stalls, Willing To Please (GB), placed seventh, jumped left-handed hampering Crantock Bay (GB), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Willing To Please (GB).
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final furlong involving the winner, Sucellus (GB), ridden by Megan Nicholls, Salam Zayed (GB), placed eighth, ridden by Ray Dawson, and Mutaabeq (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by David Egan.
The interference was found to be accidental in that Nicholls had committed for a legitimate gap to the inside of Mutaabeq (IRE), which then rolled left-handed before being corrected by Egan, tightening Sucellus (GB) onto Salam Zayed (GB) resulting in Dawson having to take a significant check against the rail.
Megan Nicholls, the rider of the winner, Sucellus (GB), was suspended for 2 days for using her whip in the incorrect place on the run to the line.
Following the race, Oisin Murphy reported that Crantock Bay (GB), which started second-favourite and finished unplaced, was restless in the stalls and missed the break as a result.
