The Stewards requested reports from a number of jockeys regarding the unseating of D.M. Grant, rider of Waydownsouth about a furlong and a half after the start of this race. The general consensus among the riders was that Waydownsouth clipped a heal and unseated, which the stewards confirmed using the video available to them as they were unable to interview D.M. Grant due to injury. C.D. Hayes, rider of Shalaman trained by Matthew J. Smith, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was hampered by the fall in the early stages of this race.
An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards that are EBF eligible (100 = 10st) Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra; for each race won. Any horse rated above 100 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 10st. Subsequently, the excess over 100 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 100 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
