The Stewards interviewed Mr M.J. Sweeney, rider of Littel Flour, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In evidence, Mr M.J. Sweeney admitted that he had breached the whip guidelines. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr M.J. Sweeney was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency
Having taken his previous record into consideration and pursuant to R10(6)(a), the Stewards suspended Mr M.J
Sweeney for six racedays
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Whispering Pines, trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be lame behind post race.
An I.N.H. flat race for four years old fillies only that have not won a race under any N.H. Rules or Rules of Racing Weights - 11st 2lbs Riders - Qualified Riders under I.N.H.S. Rules. Professional Riders under I.N.H.S. Rules (other than Apprentices) who have not lost the right to claim the 7lb allowance under Rule 52 (iii) (up to and including 14th June) may also ride in this race. (The winning owner in this race will receive a €5000 bonus should the winning filly be eligible for the Weatherbys Ireland/I.T.B.A. N.H. Fillies Bonus Scheme)
