The Stewards enquired into an incident within strides of leaving the starting stalls involving Trevena (GB), ridden by C.P. Hoban,unplaced and California Lad (GB), ridden by M.A. Gallagher,unplaced, where it appeared that California Lad (GB) moved inwards and Trevena (GB) checked. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that M.A
Gallagher had caused the incident by riding carelessly, this being a breach of Rule 214. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended M.A. Gallagher for 1 raceday.
