Shortly after the finishing line, Breckenridge (GB), which dead-heated for fifth, shifted right-handed to negotiate the bend as Papagei (GB), placed third, moved slightly left-handed to avoid the heels of the winner, Our Papa Smurf (GB), causing Commander Crouch (IRE), unplaced, Daymer Bay (IRE), which dead-heated for fifth and Myna (IRE), unplaced, to become short of room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The winner, Our Papa Smurf (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Bath on 15 May 2024 where the gelding finished tenth of twelve horses, beaten by 15 ½ lengths.
Gary Moore’s explanation that Our Papa Smurf (GB) was less fractious on this occasion and had appreciated being well positioned in today’s contest was noted.
The gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, Hollie Doyle reported that Papagei (GB), placed third, hung left-handed in the straight.
The representative of Amanda Perrett reported that Unreal Connection (GB), unplaced, was unsuited by the Good to Soft, Good in places ground on this occasion and would prefer a quicker surface.
