FormscanBy Gary Carson - A cracking renewal with four Grade 1 winners lining up. FOUND A FIFTY has the fitness advantage and can make a mark now against seasoned performers. The Solskjaer gelding produced a fine weight carrying performance at Down Royal on his return a fortnight ago. Captain Guinness bids for a hat-trick in the race so commands utmost respect. He got his day in the sun when landing the Champion Chase back in March and has been a wonderfully consitent performer. He ended his season with a narrow defeat by Banbridge at Punchestown and that rival is another big player in a small but select field. Joseph O'Brien's charge showed he can operate at a high level over two miles that day.

Quotes on Banbridge (IRE)
It was a fantastic race, a great two-mile chase, and a fantastic ride from JJ. I'm delighted for Ronnie and everyone to have a big winner here in Punchestown,. It wasn't our day in Cheltenham but delighted to win a big race here today. He's been a fantastic horse and Ronnie's patience through the Autumn when the ground wasn't right for us was really what won the race for us today. We were ready to run and had to wait. Ronnie said to wait and when the ground comes right we'd have him for the big day. Today we had a fresh horse, it's only his third run of the season. I'm so delighted to win a big one with him, for the horse as well as Ronnie and all connections. It was fantastic ride form JJ, he saved it all for when he needed it at the back of the last. I wasn't sure when he crossed the line but as Ronnie said he was in front where he needed to be. We know what conditions the horse performs on and the form-book is pretty obvious when you look at all his runs. On better ground his runs are all very good and when it gets softer, for whatever reason, he doesn't performer as well. We took the chance at Cheltenham because it's Cheltenham but it didn't work out. We freshened him up to come here and I'm delighted to win a big race with him. After Banbridge (IRE) finished 1st at Punchestown on Tue, 30th Apr 2024 2m Chase Yielding

Quotes on Captain Guinness (IRE)
Obviously after El Fabiolo went you knew then that the race had opened right up and we felt we had a right chance then. Can mistakes happen more at the speed they go in this race, I don’t know. He had his thing at Christmas (fibrillating heart) and I just kept thinking the horse deserved to get his Grade One so much, to get this one is amazing. Everyone at home has done a fantastic job and the vets. The tests he went through after Christmas, his heart specialist was happy and the IHRB (Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board) was happy and everyone was. In fairness to Sam who looks after him, he hadn’t known him in such form. We took a view from Leopardstown in February we just wouldn’t train him hard and keep him fresh and happy and that’s what we did. We just wanted him really bullish and he’s been trying to buck Sam off for the last two weeks, so I’m not sure he was as happy with the plan as I was, but it’s worked out for us all now. After Captain Guinness (IRE) finished 1st at Cheltenham on Wed, 13th Mar 2024 1m 7f Chase Soft

Quotes on Found A Fifty (IRE)
It was a good performance. He (Ewing) said he had a nice blow, and he was giving a stone to the second horse. He is probably not going to be the easiest horse in the world to place, but a good horse. You’d have to think something like the John Durkan. He could go up in trip, or you could take him back to two miles the way he jumps. After Found A Fifty (IRE) finished 1st at Down Royal on Sat, 2nd Nov 2024 2m 3f Chase Good to Yielding

Quotes on Gentleman de Mee (FR)
It was a surprise but you only have to look back to Aintree last year. He settled much better today, so I had a bit of petrol for the finish. He has a serious engine. He sat on Dunvegan's girth early on, didn't tear away as he can often do. On this performance he deserves a crack at the Champion Chase. After Gentleman de Mee (FR) finished 1st at Leopardstown on Sun, 5th Feb 2023 2m 1f Chase Yielding

Quotes on Solness (FR)
He jumped well, travelled well the whole way and when the other horse (The Banger Doyle) came to him, he toughed it out. This trip seems ideal,. He is a classy horse on his day and Oakley's 5lb off was a big help, as his claim is very valuable. Oakley is on the Hill (at Owning) five days a week so it is nice to get him a winner as he deserves it.After Solness (FR) finished 1st at Listowel on Sun, 22nd Sep 2024 2m 1f Hcap Chase Good to Yielding

Quotes on Senecia (IRE)
That was wonderful and we have him since he was a foal. As a three-year-old we failed to sell him and he became a covid carry over so today was a big day,. We reverted back to this distance, he has a good cruising speed and Philip gave him a great ride. He was near enough at the last (when Icare Desbois exited) and got there so that's the main thing. He might go to Galway now and good ground suits him. It has been bottomless during the winter and no matter where we went, there was rain coming. Vincent has five horses and we have a small operation. The competition is strong where ever you go and this is great. The last big pot I won was the Fortria Chase with Arctic Skipper. After Senecia (IRE) finished 1st at Killarney on Sun, 12th May 2024 2m 1f Hcap Hurdle Good to Yielding
