The money came for Tony Martin's charge Horse Man Pass By (4/1 to 5/2f) and he duly collected.

It may have been a different story but for the mistake of Chellah at the last flight, however.

'Slippers' Madden looked to have the race under wraps coming to the last but his mount pecked badly and was lucky to stand up.

That stopped him in his tracks and left Horse Man Pass By to swoop past to land the spoils. The runner-up battled but couldn't get back on terms.

The winner had moved through well to challenge after two out but looked to have flattened out on the run to the last. He had stayed on nicely when third here last time and the extra half-mile looked right up his street.

The runner-up has to go down as an unlucky loser. She showed improvement at Thurles last time and this was another significant step up.

Oran Flyer tracked the leaders throughout and was bang there two out but could find no more before the final flight. He could have prospects in a similar standard of contest.

Give Us A Hand was handy throughout and challenged at the second last. He had no more to offer before the last.

Second favourite Jim The Falcon (11/4) proved a major disappointment, weakening before the fourth last.

Cantrell was pulled out coughing while Cloncrave was lame.
