Permission was given for Grenoble (GB) to go early to post, and wear a red hood which was removed at the start.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race following interference approximately one furlong out involving Paradias (GER), placed second, ridden by David Probert, and Nolton Cross (IRE), placed third, ridden by Harry Davies.
Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Davies was accompanied in the enquiry by a senior rider.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved the placing of Paradias (GER) as in shifting right-handed it had caused Nolton Cross (IRE) to be stopped in its run for 7 or 8 strides and switched left-handed as a result, before regaining momentum to be beaten by a fast-diminishing neck.
The placings were revised as follows: First: War Horse (IRE), second: Nolton Cross (IRE), third: Paradias (GER), fourth: Grenoble (GB).
Probert was suspended for two days for careless riding for allowing his mount to shift right-handed without sufficient correction, causing interference to Nolton Cross (IRE).
