The winner Cliffs Of Dooneen (IRE) appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Sedgefield on 24 March 2022 where the gelding was fourth of six runners beaten 21 lengths.
The Stewards noted the explanation given by the Rose Dobbin’s representative that the gelding has taken time to come into itself and it was its first run in a Handicap.
The Clerk of the Scales reported that Dylan Johnston the rider of the winner, Cliffs Of Dooneen, trained by Rose Dobbin, had weighed in 9st 10lb at having weighed out at 9st 8lb.
The rider, the trainer’s representative and the Clerk of the Scales were interviewed.
Johnston was suspended for 3 days for weighing in at 2lb overweight.
