An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 1 furlong after the start involving Hard Toffee (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Luke Morris; Coviglia (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by Joanna Mason; Tundra (GER), unplaced, ridden by Hollie Doyle and Elegant Love (GB), placed eighth, ridden by Tom Marquand.

Marquand was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he allowed his horse to edge left- handed when insufficiently clear, crowding Tundra (GER) onto Coviglia (IRE) which was tightened for room and in turn caused a free-running Hard Toffee (IRE), to be hampered.

The Stewards wished to hold an enquiry into further possible interference approximately 1 furlong after the start involving G For Gabrial (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Barry McHugh; Broken Rifle (GB), unplaced, ridden by Kieran O’Neill and Hard Toffee (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Luke Morris, but were unable to do so as McHugh had left the racecourse.

They adjourned their enquiry to Southwell on Wednesday 20 January 2021.

Approaching the first bend, a very free-running Hard Toffee (IRE), unplaced, shifted right-handed when being restrained off heels, having suffered interference when bumping with Coviglia, placed fifth, which in turn made contact with the hindquarters of Tundra (GER), unplaced, and carried that mare off its intended line before a short distance later a free-running City Escape (IRE), placed third, improved up inside the heels of International Law (GB), placed second, as that gelding edged marginally left- handed, which resulted in City Escape (IRE) being steadied to avoid heels and both Tundra (GER) and Coviglia (IRE) being severely hampered for some distance when short of room in a tightly packed field, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of any runner.

Approximately 5 furlongs out, a free-running Broken Rifle (GB), unplaced, shifted quickly left-handed, badly crowding Clay Regazzoni (GB), placed sixth, for racing room against the rail, causing that runner to lose its position, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.

Following the race, Luke Morris reported that Hard Toffee (IRE), unplaced, ran too freely; Adam McNamara reported that One To Go (GB), placed seventh, was slowly away and the Veterinary Officer reported that G For Gabrial (IRE), which started favourite and finished fourth, lost its left-hind shoe.
