Permission was given for Woodfield Robin (IRE) to go early to post.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of I’M A BELIEVER, ridden by Wayne Hutchinson and trained by Alan King, which ran keenly toward the rear of the field, before being asked for an effort from after the third last flight to finish fourth of 10, beaten 28 ½ lengths.
The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the race.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of I’M A BELIEVER failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider stated that his instructions were to come out onto the course last and to get I’M A BELIEVER settled as she had been continually keen in her races on the flat.
He further added that I’M A BELIEVER ran keenly, a fact that he reported at scales, for over a circuit, only beginning to settle when the runners quickened after the fourth last.
His explanation was noted.
