Cousin Vinny ground out victory in the opening Keelings Irish Strawberry Hurdle at Fairyhouse today.
Ruby Walsh 's mount came off the bridle at the second last but found plenty for pressure.
The 11/10 favourite got to the lead from Head Of The Posse shortly after the final flight and went on for a two-and-a-half length success.
"He's back to himself. He did what the handicapper said he should do," said trainer Willie Mullins.
"Ruby was happy enough with him and said that he jumped better than at Cheltenham.
"We'll aim him at Punchestown now. He's in the stayers and champion hurdle but the stayers is more likely.
"We'll decide after that what to do next year but he'll probably go back chasing."
